- Work on community garden
- Collect household organics to create a compost
- Run a cafe and thrift shop out of the Community Hall
- Research content for information sessions for radio & hall activities
- Write letter to Forestry requesting tree seedlings
- Prepare soil and seeding the ball field with grass
- Begin clean up of Indian Head
- Childen's Awareness Days (decreasing ecological footprint)
- Beach Clean Up
- Awareness booth at Trout Festival activities
- Conduct nature walks to learn way to reduce ecological footprint in the environment

Community Garden - the Benefits


What are the benefits of a community garden?
1. Individuals have access to FRESH food
2. Involves physical activity, promoting health and fitness
3. Learning to grow plants is mentally stimulating and adds to an individual's knowledge and expertise.
4. Encourages the recycling of wastes through composting and mulching.
5. A social activity involving shared decision making, problem solving and negotiation, increasing these skills among gardeners .
6. Can be used to build a sense of community and belonging.
7. Regreen vacant lots and bring vegetational diversity to public open space and other areas.
8. To create a partnership between government and citizens to strenghten civil society.

week 3

This week we have done 3 Environmental Awareness Events. The topics we have chosen were water conservation, climate change, and we talked to the seniors about what we are going to be doing this summer and what we have done so far. We also told them if they have any concerns just contact us at the town council office. This week we have planted a few trees at different places in the community. We have also done 2 radio shows this week.The first radio show was on who the green team is and explaned what the conseration corps is and what we are going to be doing this summer. The second radio show was on water conservation. we have also checked out the poets path and made a check list on what we are going to need to do to cleaning it out. We have also done some work on composting told the community is they have any compost we will gladly take it all.
